Emergency Dentistry

Same-day and next-day appointments for toothaches, broken teeth, and dental emergencies.

Urgent Dental Care When You Need It Most

Dental emergencies do not follow a schedule. A sudden toothache, a cracked tooth, or a knocked-out filling can happen at any time, and waiting is not always an option. At New Image Advanced Dental, we provide emergency dentistry in Trinidad, CO with same-day and next-day availability so you can get the relief you need without a long wait.

Dr. Amy Wilson and our team understand that dental emergencies can be stressful and painful. We prioritize getting you comfortable first, then focus on diagnosing the problem and delivering the most effective treatment as quickly as possible.

Common Dental Emergencies We Treat

Our office is equipped to handle a wide range of urgent dental situations on short notice. Common emergencies include:

  • Severe toothaches and abscesses
  • Cracked, chipped, or broken teeth
  • Knocked-out (avulsed) teeth
  • Lost fillings or crowns
  • Swelling or infection in the gums or jaw
  • Injuries to the lips, tongue, or soft tissues

What to Expect

When you call with an emergency, we will get you into the office as quickly as possible. Dr. Wilson will evaluate your condition, take any necessary X-rays, and discuss your treatment options right away. Many emergencies can be resolved in a single visit. If further treatment is needed, we will create a plan and schedule follow-up appointments promptly.

Preventing Dental Emergencies

While not all emergencies are avoidable, regular dental checkups help catch weakened teeth, old fillings, and early signs of infection before they turn into urgent problems. If you play contact sports, a custom mouthguard can protect against traumatic injuries.

If you are in pain or experiencing a dental emergency, do not wait. Call 719-846-7387 right away and we will do everything we can to see you the same day. We serve patients from Trinidad, Walsenburg, Raton, and throughout Southern Colorado.

Frequently Asked Questions About Emergency Dentistry

A dental emergency includes severe toothaches, knocked-out or loose teeth, cracked or broken teeth, swelling in the face or gums, a lost filling or crown, and any injury to the mouth that causes bleeding or pain. When in doubt, call us.

Yes. We reserve time in our schedule for urgent cases and do our best to see emergency patients the same day or the next morning. Call 719-846-7387 as soon as possible so we can get you in quickly.

Pick the tooth up by the crown (not the root), gently rinse it without scrubbing, and try to place it back in the socket. If that is not possible, keep it moist in milk or saliva and call our office immediately. Acting within 30 minutes gives you the best chance of saving the tooth.

Take over-the-counter pain medication as directed, apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek, and avoid hot, cold, or sugary foods. Do not place aspirin directly on the gum, as this can burn the tissue.
