Same-Day Dental Crowns
CEREC technology lets us design, mill, and place a custom porcelain crown in a single appointment.A Custom Crown in One Visit
Traditional dental crowns require two appointments and a temporary restoration while you wait for the lab. At New Image Advanced Dental, we use CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) technology to design, mill, and place your permanent porcelain crown in a single visit. No messy impressions, no temporaries, and no second appointment.
Dr. Amy Wilson has invested in this technology to give patients in Trinidad, CO a faster, more convenient experience without sacrificing quality. Your same-day crown is custom-matched to the color and shape of your surrounding teeth for a natural, seamless result.
How CEREC Same-Day Crowns Work
The process begins with a digital 3D scan of your prepared tooth. There are no uncomfortable putty impressions. Using the scan data, Dr. Wilson designs your crown on-screen, adjusting the shape, size, and contour to fit your bite precisely.
Milling and Placement
Once the design is finalized, our in-office milling unit carves your crown from a solid block of high-quality porcelain in about 15 minutes. Dr. Wilson then bonds the crown to your tooth, checks the fit and bite, and polishes the surface to a natural sheen. You leave with a permanent restoration the same day.
When a Crown Is the Right Choice
Crowns are ideal when a tooth has too much damage for a simple filling to restore it effectively. They are commonly used after root canal therapy, for teeth with large fractures, and to replace old crowns or large amalgam fillings that are breaking down. Crowns restore both strength and appearance, protecting the underlying tooth from further damage.
If you need a crown and want to get it done in a single visit, same-day CEREC technology makes it possible. Call 719-846-7387 or request an appointment online. We serve patients from Trinidad, Walsenburg, Raton, and across Southern Colorado.
Frequently Asked Questions About Same-Day Crowns
The entire process, from digital scan to final placement, typically takes about two hours. You walk out the same day with your permanent crown in place.
Yes. CEREC crowns are milled from a solid block of high-quality porcelain or ceramic and are comparable in strength and durability to traditional lab-fabricated crowns. They are an excellent choice for most teeth.
Crowns are recommended when a tooth is too damaged for a filling to provide adequate support. Common reasons include large cavities, cracked or fractured teeth, teeth weakened by root canal therapy, and teeth with old restorations that are failing.
With proper care, a CEREC crown can last 15 years or longer. Brushing, flossing, avoiding hard or sticky foods, and keeping up with regular dental exams will help extend its life.
